I am interested in studying Japanese because I am intrigued by the cultural exchange between Japan and America. I also love languages and thought I would particularly challenge myself by taking a language course in a non-Indo-European tongue. I also quite enjoy Japanese tea, films, and food. (And would very much like to visit Japan one day.)
I am excited to learn anything and everything. At the same time, it hasn’t been easy learning a completely new writing system and set of sounds. Sentence structure in particular is tricky for me at times, and the subtle differences between words is daunting (たいがく vs. だいがく for example).
